CCR's Cinco de Mayo Garden Fiesta: Racing into Celebration!

On May 3rd, 2024, the Cross Country Racers (CCR) community came together for a vibrant and spirited event: the Cinco de Mayo Garden Fiesta. It was a race with a built in celebration, filled with the festive atmosphere of a garden party and the fun of cross-country racing as the 2nd Flora & Fauna Fair garden theme combined with the fiesta of Cinco de Mayo!

As racers revved their engines and hit the trails, they were greeted by a sombrero, a cactus, pinata, and festive flags at each checkpoint. The course ran past a good photo op at Tiki Piki and ended at the Artandi Cafe which also hosts a fun photo op bored of a mariachi band! These were great additions to the festive race because it was also a Photo Finish Challenge #ccrcinco!

Amidst the festivities, there was competition at play. Racers navigated through challenging terrain and some went the extra mile to capture the spirit of the race and the group in pictures! When the dust settled, it was nancyjo emerged as the overall winner. She has a true passion for CCR as this was her 17th race of the year! She hasn't missed a single one! But the excitement didn't end there. JessieJames, nancyjo's husband, took home the 5K prize! How exciting for the lucky couple. Jamt also scored a garden victory by taking home the floral birdbath prize!

With 29 finishers crossing the finish line, each racer had their own story and with the help of the spreadsheet racers can track their progress and celebrate their achievements with every spin of the wheel. Check below for a list of all the finishers.
